This is a small bony outgrowth that develops on the lower or posterior-superior part of the heel bone due to chronic strain and microtraumas. People suffering from heel spurs may experience pain, especially with the first steps after prolonged sitting or getting out of bed.
The pain is not a result of the spur's presence, but rather of the inflammation occurring nearby.
The basis for treating heel spurs is to eliminate the overloads that caused them, which means making corrective insoles.
To temporarily relieve discomfort, it is advisable to use physiotherapy treatments and incorporate regular stretching of the foot and calf muscles. Self-massage can also be included.
